Honeywell 5816 wireless sensor

I've got several Honeywell 5816 wireless sensors that I want to use the dry contact loop (not the magnetic reed ) to detect a contact closure. I figured that I should set the configuration as:
Definition - 16 = non alarm
Type - 2 = Normally open
My thinking was that defining the type as normally open should show the zone as violated when the contacts are closed.
Wrong, the Elk RP Status screen shows just the opposite, that the zone is secure when the contacts are closed. Infact, if I change the type to  1=normally closed, there is no change in the status. The zone is still secure when contacts are closed.

What am I missing here? How do I set the 5816 to show as zone violated when the contacts are closed.

Did you set the wireless option "WZnxxx 04 (Enable Option 2)" to YES in the wireless setup definitions?  (page 47 of the M1 manual)

Glad it worked!

The M1 manual is not very clear about when you need to use this option.  The current version of the manual would lead you to think that it is only for Elk 2-way sensors.  And the 5816 manual doesn't tell you either, since it's a Honeywell sensor.   Only if you look in the M1XRF2H manual do you find anything that tells you that you need to set this option.

 From the M1XRF2H manual:

NOTE: This Xmtr has 2 inputs and can be enrolled into 2 zones. The inputs have Loop # assignments
which must be set for each zone. The 1st zone could be assigned to Loop 1, the other to Loop 2. See sensor instructions. Repeat the enroll process for the other zone prior to setting it's Loop #. Ext. inputs are N/C by default, but can be changed to N/O by setting zone option WZnxxx 04 (Enable Option 2) to YES

Guess I should have read that too!
