I may be missing the point here, but it would seem like the switches are available as actual Simply Automated switches for less money.

The point is your definition of a "switch". The simply automated device is just a triac dimmer programmed to go full on or full off but it is still a solid state device. I am looking for true relay switches so I can automate my TIG welder.

The USR is just the slave for a 3 (or multi) way install. It can not control a load directly. It is used with the 1130W which is the equivalent of the HAL branded switch.
