Installing Recessed sensors in doors and windows

I am about to start building a house and i am installing a HAI automation system myself. I would like to add door and window contacts for security that are invisible. I have found sensors to use but can not find any information on how they are installed in doors and windows. Are there windows that have holes already in them for these sensors or what?

Thanks

My alarm pre-wire in FL had the door sensors in the upper part of the frame. Once the sensor was installed you can paint over it to hid it a bit. The windows had their wires coming out of the drywall adjacent to the windows. Even with that its kind of difficult to hide the wires. I guess you could bury the switch part of the sensor in drywall and spackle over it (?). You can also utilize very small earth magnets on the windows. For the sliding glass doors the sensors are the same color as the door frame. The door sensors typically utilize a 3/8" hole. I guess depending on the style window you could probably also use the same sensor hiding it a bit (casement windows). Attached are some pictures of typical sensors.

THIS How-To may help. You will have to drill a hole in the doors and windows. It may void your warranty on the windows, but most don't care about this.

If you dont want to drill holes thru your window (if you do, its best to do them in the SIDE as many vinyl windows have trays in the bottom to allow for water drainage and if you drill the sill, you can let water in, watch out for that), use the Tane Pill contacts. They are TINY! Smaller than an Advil capsule.

We use these ALL the time. Customers love them as they dont look like big bulky ugly magnets from 1975. Sleek and modern and most of all SMALL.

You can get them with the wires coming out of the end or the middle, or even with no wires and tiny screws (headache though getting those wired, tiny tiny tiny screws). Brown or white. We keep hundreds of each in stock all the time. Used on every job.
