Insteon - Keypadlinc & Switchlinc w/99i status update

Trying to see if I have this setup right or I'm missing something:

I have a keypadlinc controlling my dining room light. On the opposite wall I have a switchlinc to control it also. The load is on the keypadlinc. I setup a scene in the 99i for the dining light and added both switches. I'm expecting the switchlinc to update it's led status based on the on/off status of the dining room light when controlled by the keypadlinc but it is not. When I control the light (scene) with the 99i the led correctly shows in the on position - but not when I use the keypadlinc.

Is this normal behavior? Shouldn't the switchlinc update itself?

Have you asked in the UDI forums?
They should have an exact answer for you.
I fact. I think there where a few threads there on a similar subject.

This is one of the more confusing (and IMHO biggest/stupidest) issues with Insteon. Groups in Insteon are locally significant, not global like other lighting technologies like X10, UPB, etc. So the scene/group you have is with the switchlinc as a controller, and the keypadlinc as a responder. You also need a scene/group with the keypadlinc as the controller and the switchlinc as a responder. The ISY tries to obscure this nonsensical behavior and shows "global scenes" that try to make things look like they are one scene instead of what is actually two.

In the ISY both devices should be red in the scene indicating they are both controllers of the scene as well as responders. If one is not red, drag it to the scene again and click the controller/responder toggle button to make sure you add it as a controller. A device can only be a controller for a single scene (or in the keypads case each button can only be a controller for a single scene).

You want both SwitchLinc and KeypadLinc to be set up in the scene as controllers.

Yup. That is almost certainly your issue. In a virtual 3 way (or 4 or 5 or etc), each device needs to be a controller (and by default it will also be a responder). Be aware that a switch can only be a controller for one scene, any additional scenes are responders only.

If you want a switch to be a controller for two scenes, then effectively you are marrying the two scenes into one, so what you need to do in that case is create a new scene that includes everything. There is never a reason to have a single switch control more than one scene.

And ditto on using Universal Devices Forum. You will get any ISY/Insteon question answered in great detail within hours, often times minutes.
