I don't know if I am affected by Tivo guilt. I guess perhaps a little - I voted yes. There are shows on my SAGETV DVR (to hell with Tivo) that I probably won't watch and I haven't deleted yet. But that doesn't mean they won't get the ax. In fact I tend to only allow 4-5 shows per favorite (unless it is one that I really like and want to keep long term). I figure if I haven't watched it in a couple of weeks, that I really am not too interested in watching them at all. So my system isn't bloated with shows that I'll never watch. It keeps itself pared down pretty well.

That being said, I have about 2tb of storage and it is nearly 100% full. So I could definitely use some more space - or less favorites.

EDIT - whoops - I originally had 2gb - that should be 2 Terabites. 2gb wouldn't record 1 show :P

Sic, thats the way to do it. Lots of favorites and capped to keep Sage from going crazy.

I have no guilt. :P

My SageTV setup constantly records all these science shows, and I am really behind :/ I won't delete them because I know they are all very good shows, so I am keeping them with the excuse I'll watch them someday when nothing is on TV. Problem is, I don't watch much TV. I just added another 250 gigs of storage.

Hi, my name is Dan, and I have 'SageTV guilt' ...

Not a Sage or TIVO user here, using GBPVR but same difference more or less. Anyway no guilt here, it's why I set it all up. I don't get to watch much so I keep some recordings for those times I can watch, not that there is much on these days. I'm not sure how much lower TV can sink and still be viable. :P

Ha - we have shows we kinda watched but didn't finish, and watched the next show - eventually (a year later), we delete... and we have shows we used to watch, but the wife doesn't want to anymore, and I don't have time to get caught up, so they fill up 20 hours worth.... I think we qualify as space-wasters...

Guilt...Nah. I've got shows over a year old that I haven't watched, but I'll get around to it. I tend to collect an entire seasons worth of a series, then watch it in 3-4 hour bursts. Had a rainy day over the Thanksgiving weekend and wasn't feeling very ambitious, so had a marathon and watched the entire final season of "The Wire" in one swoop.

As a side note, I just wanted to say that I love the SageTV Internet plugin. I just cleaned out about 375gb of space in just a couple of minutes from the comfort of my office. Nice. I actually use it at home too because it is quicker sometimes to use the internet than it is to go through the Sage menus with the remote control.

I've been an avid stage user since 2002 (v1.2) and I have no sage guilt. Current system includes 1 main htpc, 1 sandbox htpc, 4 storage machine with a total of 8TB (3.7TB free), 5 house TVs all with extenders (non-HD currently). Of course, placeshifter so I can manage it from my office. My name is CB, and I'm a sagaholic ;)

mine stays pretty clean...it's nice to have a few things on there when there's nothing on...

I still watch a lot of live tv.... my wife doesnt like to watch it later coz she needs to discuss the show with the gals at work the next day.... ;)

No guilt here. My only guilt is that I don't have enough recorded content to watch. I come home, turn on Sage and only see one or two shows ;) I'm always deleting stuff because I don't have much room on my hard drive. I only have at most 30 gigs free. I record in SD, so that's still a lot of content.

Then again, if I deleted the stuff I already watched I suppose I'd have a lot more room!

When I do that though, Sage re-records the shows I delete, even though I have it set to only record first runs. I don't get it, so I just leave the recordings on there until the season is over or something

Mark the show as watched before you delete it, otherwise Sage assumes there was some problem and tries to recapture it.

I have guilt, I'll admit it. I have a cable HD DVR and it wasn't so bad when it was just the internal hard drive. 80 gigs doesn't record that much HD content and I had to watch stuff before it got erase for space. Then I stuck a external 1TB hard drive on it and it's been recording for about a month now and I'm only at 18%. I've been playing the heck out of some Fallout 3 and haven't had time to watch the shows I previouly watch...now I look at all that content and get a bit overwhelmed...I feel like i need to watch it, because, well I'm not really sure why :) I mean I'm like 4 weeks behind or Heros, more than that or some other shows.

Its even worse when someone else has stuff you know they will never get around to watching, and you are short on space. Seems the more shows I watch and delete, the more that free space fills up with the other people's crap!

I have developed one compulsive disorder for sure... Commercial Phobia! I have gotten so spoiled watching recorded stuff, and FF'ing through the commercials, I can't go back. If I am in the living room, and "House" comes on at 8PM, I will either go do something else for a good 20 minutes, or desperately look for something else on the DVR to watch. I have gotten to the point where I literally just can not watch live TV with the show interrupted every 10 minutes with 2-5 minutes of commercials!

If walk in the living room and something interesting is on, I ask if it is recorded. If the answer is no, I grab the remote, hit the record button, and go do something else, and will go back and watch it at a later time.
