I have developed one compulsive disorder for sure... Commercial Phobia! I have gotten so spoiled watching recorded stuff, and FF'ing through the commercials, I can't go back. If I am in the living room, and "House" comes on at 8PM, I will either go do something else for a good 20 minutes, or desperately look for something else on the DVR to watch. I have gotten to the point where I literally just can not watch live TV with the show interrupted every 10 minutes with 2-5 minutes of commercials!

If walk in the living room and something interesting is on, I ask if it is recorded. If the answer is no, I grab the remote, hit the record button, and go do something else, and will go back and watch it at a later time.

Agreed, few things frustrate me as much as having to sit through commercials. As a result I have limited access to live TV and the program guide on my clients eventually my goal is to only allow live views of my CCTV channels and DVD on demand channels.

I know what you mean about the commercials, I didn't use to mind them as much but it's gotten to be that the commercials are interrupted once in a while for the show. It's not like there is much on TV anyway but what there is on I never watch live anymore. I wait till it's been recorded and had the commercials removed, then I'll watch it.

The only thing I really watch live these days is news and that's tough as well with all the regular commercials and then they're own commercial about what's coming on after the break. All that time they waste telling you what's on after the break they could have just done the damn story and had time for something else.

I record the 10 o'clock local news off fox, and watch it pre-recorded at 11:00, the same time the other stations have their news, so was not hard to keep the same schedule (minus the commercials :) )

As I am never able to watch the news every day, I also record the 11 pm news off a better NBC affiliate here, and have it set to keep only 2 days on the DVR. If I hear conversation of something I may have missed in the news, I can go home and see what I missed, again all commercial free :)

Hahah! You are falling for the oldest trick in the book, the "Keep you hooked" snippit of news. "Find out how you could save money on your next electric bill, when we return". then the next segment comes on, and again time for commercial, and they remind you about the upcoming story.... and so forth till the very last 45 seconds of the news....and it's usually some stupid, short report that is not worth anything, it's just the title that makes you sit there and wait to see what it is :D
