I have an older Dlink DCS900W that was self contained with a http server. I set it up and it works fine.

They have discontinued it so I am looking for another one. Anyone have ideas for around $100 that I could get.
The one i have is a DCS900W and works for what I need. Simple www page interface, wireless etc. I want something to put in my patio to watch my boat etc.
Nice and simple no dvr needed etc. I can view the DCS on my Droid phone. but not my q-see cameras. So something simple like that would be great.

Thanx

It looks like the cheapest D-link wireless IP camera now is the DCS-920. If you are happy with the older D-Link, then perhaps this model will work for you as well. Seems that you can pick it up in the $100 range on-line.

Of course I am not sure what that will actually do for you especially if you are not recording the image. The odds of viewing the camera at the exact moment someone is being picked up by the camera is pretty small. Plus, I cannot image that the video quality is going to be good enough to make a positive ID on anyone messing with your boat.

Edit - I'm not trying to belittle your request with my comments. If they come off with some sort of "higher than thou" type attitude then I'm sorry - they are not designed to be taken that way....

I appreciate your comments. The condo commander take good care of my boat. I actually wanted it to view the ICW while remote or so that my family up north can get their water view fix in every so often. :)

the DCS-920 is not wireless but wired. I need wireless too.

The DCS-920 is wireless. The DSC-910 is the wired version.

EDIT - Newegg has them for $75 after $20 MIR.

Just wondering what people know about this camera DCS-900 as i keep losting my wireless config. One min its there and works for a few days/hours and then its off the net. When I go to the camera I have to reset back to factory defaults from a hard wired connection.

This is a pain. I thought it was a fluke but its happened 3 times now and I am remote to the camera so this is really a pain.

Sounds like the camera is failing. Is it still under warranty?

thanx for the i nfo .. may be i typed in 910 instead of 920..

Does anyone know if this camera is a pan and tilt?

I read the specs but dont see it so I am guessing not.

I want this for my q-see system. May be I need to start a new thread. I want a low cost IR dome pan and tilt camera

No this camera is not pan and tilt. In addition without the specs of the camera it's anybodies guess. I would stick with cameras that are at least 500 lines of res or more if possible.

Not even close. it is a discontinued camera. I will hard wire it and see if it has the same issues.

The only thing I changed this am was the Tim as it was off. the IP and everything else was unaffected.
It will be a few days before I can get back to it but I will hard wire it and see what IP it responds back on. Sucks they use a 192.168.0.20 ip as a default when most home networks are 192.168.1 or .2. I have to change my router and disrupt my network just to cfg this thing.

I had a feeling it was not for the price.

Can anyone recommend a good PTV camera that will work with a q-see system? Reasonably priced.

Take a look at this one, it has a ton of decent reviews:

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-BL-C131A-N...s/dp/B000NVR9SM

Overstock.com has refurbs for $171 right now. I've been thinking about picking up a couple to play around with. Doh, they are out of the ones for $171. But they have the same model for $203 now. They have some other PTZ cams that look interesting. There is a TrendNet PTZ IP camera for $131 which originally listed for over $300.

The Panasonic does not have zoom.

panasonic has zoom but it is digital. if you are watching on IE with activex it will have zoom.
just about any camera under $300 retail will only be digital zoom.

trendnets are about as cheap as you are going to get but most are only PT; not even digital zoom in most cases. you could check the airlink cams also.

cheaper than that and you are looking at ebay and probably heading into China territory like foscam, goscam, vilar, etc. these knockoffs all seem to come from the same place just different firmware running on them.

not sure about the q-see part though. don't have much experience with them.

it's the zoom part that seems to be the hardest part out of the requirements. many cheap PT cams. when you go into zoom territory especially optical you get into whole different price ranges usually.

for pt you can add
afreey afreey
airlive airlive

i think lorex has one too now ln3003 or something like that.

we did some videos on our youtube channel on bb and iphone
