iPhone/iPod link to Omni Pro II

I have watched with intense interest in how the iPhone/iPod can be folded into an HA environment. I see that a iPhone application called "H@ME" is available for free to create interface to the HAI family of controllers. Does the iPhone communicate with the OMni Pro II via my network and a wireless link to the network?

Any good web sites to dig into this deeper to understand it better before I buy a iPhoe or iPod?

There is an AVS Forum thread about it.

Basically you need a wireless network at home that your HAI is connected to. You can then use the H@ME app to control your panel and connected devices. Very slick for free!

I use my Touch with this and its great.

Paul,
I use H@me with my OmniIIe. It works perfect, absolutely recommend it. One of the best Apps I've found (and i've spent many hours looking). Also if you have HAI's Weblink II (upgrade to latest version) or WL3 it has a native support for iPhone that is just as good as H@me for the iPhone

Either way you will not be disapointed with the iPhone

I have used both programs and have to say that web link is way more responsive that H@me. Of course you have to pay for web link and H@me is free so it is to be expected.
Web link also does other devices (like the blackberry and Winows Mobile) so it is a good choice if you have a multi-phone household.

I have found a few bugs in H@me, and for me at least, what it reports doesn't always match reality, especially in the thermostat area. WebLink 2 or WebLink 3 is much more full featured, and those programs offer access from anywhere on the web, not just from an iPhone/Touch over a LAN. Of course these programs are also $200-$300 plus they have to run on a PC or Windows Home Server. In my opinion, both of these programs are VERY overpriced. Maybe $79 would be more like it, or maybe free with a panel purchase. Until HAI comes to their senses, I'll just use the Free H@me app, bugs and all.

Just to clarify you can use H@me over 3g/edge just fine if you have ddns and the proper ports forwarded no wifi required. I actually have Wifi, WHS and Web-link II and H@me. Since WHS provides DDNS and I have the ports forwarded my iPhone will seamlessly roam from WiFi to 3g with neither H@me or WLII skipping a beat.

I currently prefer H@me to WLII, but they both are pretty close.

I am also thinking about using their .Net SDK and making a web based app that has specific pages for buttons and security commands with the proper meta icons so that I can simply save them as icons on the iPhones desktop, so for instance I could just hit a icon to open the garage without going H@me->Buttons->Garage.
