I taking the step of adding my a/v to my home automation (Insteon controlled by Indigo). The irTrans usb looks like the best solution, as the Mac running indgo is next to the tv. I can't really move any of it, as it is all behind a baby-gate to protect from grasping hands.
My question for those of you who have used irTrans usbs: How big a field of view does the emitter have? Does it need to be couch distance away from the devices to see an area about 6 feet wide? Because if it has to be further back than about a foot I will need to use the stick on emitters.
