KB Application Directory - Tips and Tricks

In another thread Fred mentioned the Application Directory

I would suggest looking at the HAI knowledge base (kb.homeauto.com). There are many articles on various topics that are useful. There is also an application directory document in the knowledge base that has several "applications" for your HAI system in a single document. One application is titled "Making the House Look Lived-In While on Vacation" might be of particular interest but there are many others like sprinkler control, or custom programming 6-button room controllers, seasonal heating and cooling, etc.

There are discussion groups that have forums dedicated to user contributed program examples...

In this application directory, on page 8-3/8-4 a 'hack' is described that allows the console LCD backlight to remain on and/or dim. So I stopped at Radio Shack and picked up the mentioned 150 ohm 1/2 watt resistors all ready to do the mod and when I took off the console to do it I noticed the console board is not the same. Are there different console boards? The # on the picture is an 11A01 which I can find no trace of. Mine is a 33A00 and the layout is very different. There is no detail in the article other than saying it is compatible with the OPII. Is there a similar mod that can be done on the 33A00? Is the 11A01 just a very old or different console? I think the article needs to be updated if its not going to work with current consoles...

I asked support and they sent me a new image. I have attached it here for reference. I did the mod to one keypad (it is not for the faint of heart - the components are tiny) and it seems to work. I used a resistor but I don't seem to get the dimming effect, the backlight just stays on all the time. I am clarifying that now.
