I installed my first Vizia RF dimmer last night and encountered a fairly loud buzz coming from the switch itself whenever the lights were dimmed. I could easily hear this buzz from 10 feet away.
If the lights are off, there was no buzz. If the lights were on and turned to full brightness, there was still a buzz, but it was much quieter (had to get next to the switch to hear it).
I replaced the Vizia RF dimmer with a regular Vizia dimmer and got the exact same behavior so I don't think that it is a bad switch.
The switch is dimming 4 flood lights. They are 85 watts each. They are a mixture of GE and Philips bulbs, but I did remove all bulbs except for one and had the same issue. I tried each of the four lights by themselves with both the GE bulbs and the Philips bulbs and it didn't seem to make a difference.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is moving the switch to a different location.
Needless to say, I'm very disappointed. I've been waiting for these switches for the past 6 months, but for how much they cost, it is unacceptable to me that there is any audible buzz. If I'm going to pay $75 for a switch, it better be silent. Hopefully there is a solution.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Scott
