Lighting control with only 2 wires

I thought that I had already asked this question but I can not seem to find the thread.

I am ready to do some lighting control and and have been looking at all the systems that are out their and I keep running intoa problem. Our house is older and only has two wires coming into the boxes. I know that there are a few zwave switches that only have two wires. Are there any other products that will run on two wires? Maybe a upb switch or some other technology. Obviously I would like to keep things as simple as possible but can afford upwards of $100.00 a switch.

Thanks for any suggestions.

How about RadioRa 2 by Lutron?

Do they have a two wire dimmer and can it be found diy?

Also, is the wayne-Dalton home settings line compatible with the old intermatic line? They look identical.

The Intermatic HA20 is a Z-Wave toggle type dimmer switch. Unfortunately they've been didcontinued but there seem to be plenty available for $15-$25. I use them throughout the house and have a number of spares should I ever need them.
X-10 is always another option in the same or lower price range.

The first question I would ask is what are the two wires in your house? Are they line and neutral (no ground)? If so, then I would expect nearly all of the automation products (insteon, X-10, UPB, Z-wave, etc...) to work. The missing ground so common in older houses is a safety issue only. It would not affect the operation of the various automated devices.

The two-wire devices that I am familiar with are for locations where a neutral is missing (such as a switch box wired as a switch leg). I would be surprised if this was the case in your house and that you needed to go this route.

These are the 2-wire dimmers that we carry: ACT ZDW120, Cooper RF9534, RF9536, Leviton VRI06, VRI10, Wayne Dalton HA-14WD, GE/Jasco 45606. All are Z-Wave. Unfortunately, there are no 2-wire "relay" switches!
