Hi,

I have bought a Lightning Detector from hobbyboards but the problem is that it wont count at all.

The detector is being reconized in the onewire viewer and in weatherdisplay, but what I do, it wont count.
Tried with an elektric lighter and with a wire from the +9v batterij to the ant, no counts at all.

I have connected another (new) battery, no results
Tried another cable to the adapter, no results
etc, etc.

Strange thing is that when I touch the DS2423 chip with my vinger, the detector counts. But that is the only way to get it count.
Maybe it start counting when the lightning hits the chip directly?? LOL

Now Im realy out of options.

Someone can help me to get this thing working?

Thanks in advance!

Theo

PS,

I haven a couple of DS1820 temp. sensors connected to my 1-wire adapter and they are working fine.

Theo,

I have a HB's lightning detector on the roof; still with its original 9V battery (a few years now) and it still working fine. I am surprised in fact that its still working with the original battery.

The test for the counts/counter is the following per HB:

To test that the lightning detector has been assembled correctly jumper the antenna connection to
the positive side of the 9v battery. The count should increment each time the connection is made.
It will probably increase by more than 1 count each time due to bounce.

The piezo lighter should also trip the counter just fine.

I built mine as the attached PDF file shows maybe some 4-5 years ago?

Sounds like maybe your device isn't working right or its defective.
