location of Elk speaker/strobe

Hi Guys. My first post. So much great info on this site, thanks!

I pulled the trigger on an Elk system recently. I was wondering - what's the best place to mount an external speaker/siren and strobe? I am running some speakers mounted behind the KP2 keypads, but I am assuming most people do an external speaker plus a strobe?

Welcome to Cocoontech! Expect to spend a lot of time here ...

I'm using an external siren (hidden from view) and a discreetly located, but visible, strobe.

FWIW, it is also possible to mount SP12F speakers into single-gang boxes behind KP1 keypads ... but it takes a bit of "plastic surgery".

I can tell you where not to add it. Put it some distance away from any flood lights. I was not thinking when I chose that location during my pre-wire and definitely regret it.

It is completely overpowered by the lights at night.

I assume you are putting it on the front of the house somewhere? I am just trying to maintain wife approval, as I already have plans to mount cameras, etc.

I imagine the external siren/strobe shoudl be somewhere ont he front of the house where the police can see it. Althoguh ofcourse it probabluy doesnt not want to be right next to the front door.
