looking at serial communications

Yesterday, at 4 AM, my three thermostats stopped communicating with the Elk. I seem to recall seeing on the board somewhere Spanky giving us a secret way to look at the serial communications in real time, but I can't seem to find it. Looking at these would give me a good idea of where the disconnect is (likely somewhere in the wiring). Does anybody remember how to do this?

You could monitor the RS-232 data going to the Thermostat with an oscilliscope or patch into the data into a serial port on a PC and run a data scope program. I think the data is binary which makes it harder to see instead of being ASCII.

I think you were referring to the data display on ELKRP when the cursor is in the left pane and you hit CTRL F5 which brings up Port 0 ASCII data display which is not the same as the thermostat data.
