Low Battery Cutoff

I'm wondering if I need a low battery cutoff for the following...

-I have an Elk M1G connected to a battery...do I need a low battery cutoff (Elk 965) or does the M1G prevent the battery from being drained too low?

-I have the XEP connected to the P212S and a battery. Does this need to be connected to a low battery cutoff (Elk-965)?

-I have an Uplink 2500 in the Uplink power/can (Elk P983). I have a battery in the can (Elk-P983) Does this need a low battery cutoff (Elk-965)?

The only one that needs a LBC is the 983. The rest have the circuitry built in.

Thanks DEL. What about AC surge protection...which of the 3 need surge protection?

Really, all do, with the grounds all tied back to a common point, not just grounded.

What kills electronics is the difference in ground potentials which starts the current flowing.
