Low priced TV's

I really hope HDHomeRun keep up the good fight with A3SA in order to be able to decrypt the encrypted 3.0 signals. The ATSC 3.0 tuner box has all the hardware needed and meets all of the government specifications to do so. However theA3SA is denying their ability to do so because one of the chips HDHomeRun uses is a "blacklisted" chip manufactured by Huawei. The problem with this argument is that the GTMedia ATSC 3.0 tuner ALSO uses a blacklisted chip from Hauwei (a different chip than the HDHomeRun, but it still appears on the government "ban" list), yet it has A3SA approval for decrypting the ATSC 3.0 channels. It's a double standard for sure.

The Huawei chip "thing" is just a smokescreen. That is not the real problem. Seems like the current administration has used lots of that smokescreens. The HDHomeRun is a network tuner, the GTMedia unit is not. The GTMedia box connects to a tv with an HDMI cable. Can you give examples of other NETWORK TUNERS like the HDHomeRun that support ATSC 3.0 encryption? (Hint - the chip manufacturer don't matter)

I have read about a semi possible solution. There is a new USB ATSC 3.0 tuner that supports encryption. Its NOT a network tuner, and you need one for every TV, and the TV has to use a Fire TV or Google TV. Only one channel at a time and NO way to record. About $70 each. So not a great solution, but better than none.

Antenna to HD Homerun (old) is still working fine these days. Going to replace cheap antenna cable that came with antenna.

Direct TV is now at around $150 for the basic service we always had. I may go to XFinity bundle with TV or Dish Network. Note this is for Wife's viewing habits.

I did plug in the TCL TV in the spare bedroom. It is working fine.

I'm sad to see another historic product line absorbed under Chinese control. That said, I have seen Sony quality drop over the paste two decades, but now I know it won't get better.
