M1XEP failed to connect

I could see M1XEP using setup find utility, but am getting "failed to connect to server" when trying to access it. Firewall is disabled, not sure what else to do. M1XEP is plugged in using a regular patch cord, do I need a crossover cable from 568B to 568A? ALso, using a static IP address option or DHCP does not make any difference. Using direct RS232 connection works. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you saying that you are connecting with cat5 directly from xep to your computer? Or are you going through a switch/router.

M1XEP is plugged into the router
after strugling with it for hours a simple M1XEP reboot took care of the issue. I could connect to it from my wireless laptop via wi-fi and from my desktop which is plugged int the same router

I am sure I'll be back for more help, next step is try to access it from the outside world

It is not really made to be accessed from "the outside world". You connect with HTTP but it passes back a java applet that connects via a tcp port (2601) to your local IP/name. Really poor/non-standard programming practice...
