M1XEP setup for newbie

Hey all,
I am setting up my first M1XEP and need some help with the settings. I got the primary and secondary server address and entered those. I know the subnet mask is supposed to be 255.255.255.0. What should my IP address and default gateway settings be? Thanks.

Assuming you are wanting to set a static IP for the XEP, the IP you select should be any address on your subnet that isn't part of a DHCP range. the default gateway IP should typically be your home router. So, if you have a router at 192.168.10.1, you would enter that as the default gateway. Since your router is probably configured to provide DHCP addresses starting at the low end, I would use something like 192.168.10.225 for the XEP. Technically, you should configure your router to never give out DHCP addresses that overlap your statics, but that is unlikely to happen in a home environment.

To figure it out goto Start-> Run-> type CMD and click OK.

In the Command window type "ipconfig /all" with out the quotes and that will tell you your IP, Subnet, and Gateway of the PC your on.

Use the same Subnet, and Gateway and make the IP something completely out of the range of your routers DHCP ipaddress range.

I use XXX.YYY.ZZZ. 250 for my EXP. My DHCP range is 101 to 120.

The last number in the address can be anything you want except for the gateway address, 255, 0, or any other IP used in your network. I kind of rambled on and repeated what WayneW said but you get the point...

Good luck

Thanks guys. Got it. The TS07 is up and working. Although, I can't get the stupid demo to disappear from the touch screen. I think I programmed the proper product key. Oh, well I'm not worried about that right now. I now have both keypads and the touchscreen all hooked up to the M1. my next step is to wire in my water sensors, PIR's and smokes. I'm sure I'll be back to the board for more help.
