Mobile phone "detector"

.one for my car, one for my wife's car, and one to take apart to see if it can be hidden behind the dash (assuming the "alarm" is loud enough).

Thanks,
Ira

Why would you need to take it apart? It plugs into a 12v outlet, just add one from radio shack and stick it behind the dash.

Part of the Terms of Service when one signs up with cocoontech is that you agree to take apart any new device you find out about on cocoontech to see if there is a way to improve it or better integrate it into your environment.

Seriously, if I put it behind the dash, I would still like a visual notification from the device, e.g., an "external" bi-color LED that I can see from the driver's seat.

Hey, when the phone is paired to this device (i.e. when you get into the car) can that 'action' be a trigger for Tasker (Android App)?

Does your phone have NFC? I bought some NFC tags for $1.50 each. Ended up sticking them in places I KNEW I would place the phone. Such as my car phone holder. Then, my phone KNOWS it is sitting there and bingo it switches to car mode...or charging mode...or nightstand mode (using Tasker of course!).

Bringrr's were delivered today. No problem pairing it with a VZW iPhone 4s. I won't have time to do much with it until the weekend, but here are a few initial comments...

1. Buzzer seems loud enough. I can hear it over the radio at normal levels.
2. Light indicators are not very bright. On a sunny day, it might be hard to see the "light rings", especially if the Bringrr is a little of sight, like with my car. If I can't figure out a way to relocate everything behind the dash and have an external light indicator, I will probably need to get an "extension" for the lighter socket so I can mount the Bringrr in a closer, more visible location.
3. It finds the iPhone within a few seconds of starting the car.
4. I may have something set up incorrectly, but...unless I actually have my iPhone on the Bluetooth screen, Bringrr doesn't detect it. For example, the Bringrr doesn't detect my iPhone if my iPhone is on my "home" screen. I will probably email Bringrr support to see if I've done something wrong, or if it is working as designed. If it's working as designed, this will be a major problem for me.

A couple of us got to talking about NFC today in the chat room - and the various potential uses for it. Very cool that someone is actually doing it!

This is cool stuff, be sure to let us know how the behind-the-dash installation goes. I hadn't seen this before and I'm also surprised it hasn't gotten some competition.

For the pairing, as long as you have bluetooth on and the device is a "known" device to your phone, it should pair automatically. It shouldn't need to be on the bluetooth screen.

Does it connect to your car's bluetooth automatically?
