Monitoring pool temperatures

That and mounting is another issue, plus I haven't heard of anyone using it in a pool environment, and I don't want to be the first one The Goldline sensors are inserted into a small hole in the pipe near the pump (which is more protected from the elements than the pool).

One thing to remember about the in-pipe sensors, Dan, is you'll only have an accurate temp when the pump is running. My Pentair IntelliTouch system measures temps the same way. Unless the pump's running, no temp reading.

Yea that's fine, I am mostly interested in the temps so the system can decide if it should bypass the solar panels.

My reply is a year late, but maybe it can help someone else. I'm using the HAI 14A00-8 pool sensor with the HAI Omnipro II controller. It seems to be working well and the temp seems to be on target without any adjustments. For heating, you just need to set the heat setpoint and monitor the zone. If you want to add cooling, you will need to wire the sensor zone to a second zone and set the cool setpoint for that zone.

The pool sensor doesn't come with any mounting hardware, so I installed a T before the pump where the T has a 3/4" threaded connection. Took a 3/4" plug, drilled a 1/4" hole making a tight fit for the probe and epoxied the inside of the plug to seal it.
