HomeSeer is a remarkable and reliable Automation program and I've been using for a long time. That being said my biggest disappointment with it comes from the Audio/Video side of control, mostly audio. When they came out with HSTouch I could see the potential and I still can but their Audio plug-ins are very thin, both HomeSeers own and 3rd party efforts. Any of them work fine if you just want to play a playlist, beyond that things get tricky if not impossible for real multi-zone operation with a good user interface.
HomeSeers own Media player Plug-in works well enough if you don't push it too hard. It's not multi-zone but it's also not something you want to let guests play with, if you do guaranteed this will be a mess and you'll have lots of half played songs and many playlists to clean up later.
I swear I'd sell my soul for a good, reliable jukebox player that I can let guests walk up to on a touchscreen, choose a song or two to add to the queue to be played and have it work without having to show people how to add to the playlist, save the playlist and cross your fingers that things won't get screwed up. You know like a jukebox should be able to. Something like this simply does not exist for HSTouch.
For the life of me I don't understand the fascination the authors have with playlists and giant databases, more features than anyone could ever use. They have their place i suppose but the problem ends up being that the music gets lost and becomes second to operation and user interface complexity. If there were a simple folder based jukebox player for HSTouch I'd buy it in a heartbeat at whatever cost.
