New Computer

I am looking for the easiest and safest way to move my Elk RP software and database over to a new pc. I started by loading my original version of rp (1.6.12 'I think') but then realized that I must of upgraded somewhere along the way. So when I try to do a sync of accts, I got an error message. I am a bit lost here. This may be a dumb question but can I transfer the data from the m1g to the new computer? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Unless you had a bunch of different accounts set up, it could be as easy as a fresh install then connect to your Elk - All the stuff you had in your previous install (rules, etc) should already be present in the Elk. Hope I'm not misspeaking but I think that's how it works.

Thanks. That was one way I thought might work. I do have a pretty simple set up with just one account.

I assume that I should have the same version of Elk Rp on both computers or perhaps this is not an issue.

same version. FYI, what I did was to put my ElkAccts.mdb file on a NAS, so now I can access my config from any PC. I installed ElkRP on both laptops, primary server, and den office PC. It's amazing how often I just want to double-check what zone something is on...

Monk there are a few items that are stored in the local file. ex. comments to rules do not get stored in the M1 only the RP itself.

Hi: I have exactly the same problem, and the things I am really worried about are the comments in rules that remind me why I made a rule in a particular way. These items are NOT stored in the M1G How do I transfer the files that contain my complete installation form one computer to another. In my case I am actually transferring it from a WinME installation to an Xp installation.
THanks, John

just copy the elkrp.mdb db file. I can't remember where it is, but if you click 'open db', it'll pull up the default elk directory.

I ended up getting several .dll fixes from Elk and I changed a couple dll's and re-registered them and that fixed it.
Thanks to all, John
