Looks like the folks at Elk Products have been busy. They released several new firmware updates for the M1XSP and M1XEP. Straight from our residential Elk engineer:

Elk-M1XSP Serial Expander Firmware (various versions) released 10/29/08
Seven updates are available for the M1XSP:
1) The standard version - M1XSP_Update.exe (1.0.42)
2) A version dedicated to Insteon Lighting - M1XSP_Insteon_Update.exe (50.0.28)
3) A version dedicated to Uplink and AES radios - M1XSP_Uplink_AES_Update.exe (10.0.2)
4) A version dedicated to the JetStream Lighting Interface - M1XSP_JetStream_Update.exe (30.0.8)
5) A version dedicated to the OmniStat Series 1 & 2 Thermostats - M1XSP_OmniStat_Update.exe (70.0.2)
6) A version dedicated to the ViziaRF (RZC0P) Lighting Interface - M1XSP_ViziaRF_Update.exe (20.0.4)
7) A version dedicated to the M1XZW Elk Z-Wave Lighting Interface - M1XSP_(M1XZW)_Update.exe (1.0.16)

Elk-M1XEP Ethernet Expander Firmware 1.2.14 released 10/29/08
Release Notes:
1. Added support for the AMX Duet Device Discovery routine. ElkRP now provides a new option under the M1XEP
Setup button. The AMX option must be checked in order for the AMX Beacon message to be broadcasted.
2. Implemented support for a new special ASCII “AP” command that an M1 can use to send data to software applications.
Refer to the Elk ASCII Protocol documentation for more details.
3. Found and resolved an issue that could cause the Java Webserver application to lock up if the login code happened
to be the Installer or RP codes. Basically, the Java app. now checks for a return reply of whether the code is user/
master/installer/RP. If not user or master, it displays “Invalid Code.” but should no longer lock up.
4. Found and resolved an issue with the Java webserver application that caused the display of Outputs to be sized too
small to view on MacOS systems.
5. Found and resolved an issue with the TEST button in ElkRP for testing DynDNS and NTP servers. The XEP wouild
sometimes report back to ElkRP that the test passed even when it didn’t.

Does anyone have more information about the M1XZW Update? I'm wondering if there are any feature additions to this module?

Unless I'm reading the site wrong, the only new releases here are the JetStream, OmniStat and ViziaRF versions. All the others have a 6/3/2008 date as shown here:

The M1XZW Zwave module is a mature product. All future Zwave specification changes for the M1 will be through the RZCOP and M1XSP modules.

The RZCOP is keeping up with the ever changing Zwave world. That gives ELK more time to concentrate on the M1 and beyond.

Bravo! Way to go.

Now wouldn't it be wunnerful if Elk provided firmware to interface the M1G with its very own MM443/MM443s Magic Modules ?

(As an early adopter of both the MM443 and M1G, I naturally (naïvely?) thought that these two product lines would be able to communicate natively. ABIK, M1G can't do the CRC computations and BCD that MM data bus protocol requires. One can externally compute and statically save for one-way comms, but that's not very satisfactory.)

Thanks in advance for your consideration ... Marc
