New ELK System Help

I just purchased my first Elk M1 Gold and I ordered a bunch of the Elk 6021 Door and Window sensors. However I am realizing that my windows have about a 1/4" gap between where it slides in and the outer frame. Any suggestions how to permanently push out the sensor so its even with the other side? Or should I return them for another version say the 6020?
 
My second question is on the navigator panel can I turn off the screen totally? I dont want to see it on at all in the master bedroom.

Have you used the LED's to verify the transmitter doesn't set up when the contact/magnet are in their intended orientation?
 
A 3/8" gap is pretty big and usually you don't need to be 100% in the same plane with a contact as a magnet.

Put a 1/4" shim under the sensor?  A picture would help.

So even though it appeared to be a large gap, it does still work. Thanks for the shim idea, that was helpful in some areas too.
