Hello there HA experts.
I am looking to build a home lighting control solution from some specific needs I have and I’m wondering if the folks here have any suggestions or recommendations that I can start from.
1. Need a way to fade up lights (incandescent, CFL and LED) on a dimmer switch based on both movement near a doorway and time of day (e.g. they should only do this at night). After a predefined timeout period the lights should fade down to off.
2. Need a way to turn on lights within an undefined time period (e.g. at dusk each day) and turn them off at another undefined time period (e.g. at dawn each day).
3. Need a way to locally override these behaviors to turn lights on or off
4. Need a way to turn lights on and off when away from the home (via the Internet).
5. Need multiple, independent zones and controls for each lighting case (e.g. movement at one door doesn’t trigger lights at the other doors).
6. Need control over lights that do not all reside on the same circuit (e.g. lights in the garage with switches in the garage and lights at the front of the house with switches inside the house).
I have previously tried and setup both X-10 and Insteon lighting solutions but each had challenges of range, compatibility or reliability in my former home. Having recently purchased a new home (built in 2013) I am not currently using any home automation products and so I am open to any suggestions or systems that might be available.
Eventually, or really soon, I would like to add in keyless door locks and deadbolts to the house, as well as other dimmers, so there is a consideration for having these all tie together in some form or fashion as well.
Thank you in advance for your advice and suggestions.
