I saw a link to this posted on the HS forum.

Interesting in that it uses only a USB connection and easily supports addition of multiple monitors.
Also gets power via USB.

Currently in pre-order state.

$129.99 for 7"
$199.99 for 7" touchscreen version, adds audio and webcam too
800x480 resolution

Wow...very cool if it works..anybody bit the bullet yet and got one?

Now if i can get that handle to integrate into the sofa armrest....

This thing does look like a nice solution for nightstands and the like.

I have been trying to get my hands on once of these since the beginning of December (for a review), but they never have any available.

Do they really exist is my question. Many guys have talked about them but none have been able to find them. Add this to the fact that USB only has a range of about 15 feet with out expensive extension cables and they may not be as good as first thought. I sure hope they are though.

Ya, I guess I'm wondering what this has over a used ELO off ebay? True, it's only USB, not serial, power, and VGA. But you still need a PC to run it, and the USB limits how far from the PC it can go.

It's pretty, I guess....

isnt this really for when you need a secondary monitor on your desk and not really intended for automation? Not that it wouldnt be great for the automation if it was available and close to the PC. For the pricepoint it would be worth it.

If I'm after a secondary monitor for my PC I'm not sure I'll be looking for a 7" one. :)

Just get one of those magnifying glass sheets you use for the full page of a book :D

Seriously I see a few uses for it and at that price it would be worth it.

whats interesting about this is because all the graphics hardware is onboard you could feasibly create something the size of a plug-in module with all the os software/processing and a usb port and simply plug this into it for touchscreen control.

You can get a USB cat5e balun for about $25. I use several in my system and always had good luck with them. So that should take the distance issue out of the equation. For a single device like this, you shouldn't need to add power to the balun. So it still makes for a clean install.

I'd personally be very interested in something like this if I could find a reliable way to use several screens on one computer and have a unique CQC IV running on each. But I think I would have two problems with that. 1) Running several screen off one computer and 2) Running several unique CQC IVs on one computer. So it will be a while before I could even think about using several in my setup.

I thought CQC supported the RAD-I/O screens, meaning being able to run multiple instances of the client. Each LCD is basically a video card, so you shouldn't have a problem running multiple of these on 1 system (unless their drivers don't support it).
