Nuvo Music Port

Am considering using the new Nuvo MusicPort in combination with an E6G. I would be running the MusicPort with iTunes from the same server as CQC.

Anybody have experience with this? I'm not seeing a lot of reviews out there on this.

Nuvo recommends a dedicated PC to run their MusicPort software but thats hard to justify given the power requirements. It is ofcourse also easy to set that requirement to ensure you can wash you hands whenever conflicts occur with other software.

Anybody know of MusicPort can pull in internet based satelite radio, pandora and the like?

If not using the MusicPort how would i get MP3/iTunes into the E6G such that metadata can be seen and E6G can control iTunes?

Indeed, no expensive NV.M3 server required...but with apparently nobody using it i am a bit hesitent...

I think it goes for $400, so i guess i can be the guinea pig...

I just wanted to find out if it will play online things as well such as Rhapsody and online satelite radio...

I searched remotecentral.com installer's forum yesterday for the Nuvo Music Port; mixed responses - there were problems reported, but it appears Nuvo tech support is fairly responsive, at least to CI's. Bluetooth (disable during Nuvo software install), Vista (one CI said don't use it with Vista, but for DIY'ers that's not always an easy solution), and old firmware (update immediately) were responsible for the problems.

IIRC, AVS didn't have much, but I didn't look that hard there. Was at work yesterday, didn't have the time to search properly.

To be fair it hasn't been out very long for the general public to grab and test. I've done a fair bit of research on it and I'm going to give it a go in a few months. Overall if it works similar to Casatunes I think it is an appropriate substitution for the NV Music Server at a fraction of the cost.

My .2c

Sorry, i'm not clueing in as to what this gets you that CQC doesn't. If it's just Sirius, you could get a squeezebox for $150 that does the same thing - that's what I use.

If it's control via the NuVo keypads, I posted a how-to-control the squeezebox via the NuVo Concerto Keypad here.

You can also display text on those keypads from the CQC driver (well, i know the Concerto driver allows that, not sure about the others).

Hi IVB...i didnt know you could control other things from the NuVo keypads as well...would this work for E6G keypads as well as the GC (which i think you have)?

Do you get metadate from the squeezebox into the nuvo keypads as well?

If that works that the squeezebox hanging from the Nuvo would probably be a better solution since from what i can tell the MusicPort doesnt have the online radio type support like Pandora/Rhapsody...

Yes..the Music Port offfers 3 streams...but it's just the wife and me..so i don't really need this...

On the other hand..if the music port works out of the box and IVB's solution invovled tying it all together via CQC it might be easier to just get the music port...

Not sure, I know it works with the concerto, you'd have to ask about the essentia.

Yep. I'm displaying the Sirius song & artist name from the squeezebox if that's what it's tuned to, or the mp3 song name/artist if it's set to the mp3 player.
