Omni Pro II Expansion Module

I currently have an Omni-Pro II with one expansion module plugged. The Omni Pro II is at Rev 2.14. I followed the manual for installation of said expansion module about 4 years ago. It has always worked well and never given me any issues. I only wonder regarding the status that I see and curious why I am seeing this status with its functioning ok?

It appears what you're really using is the 10A06 Hardwire Expander (16 zone inputs only that attach to OPII main board with a ribbon cable). The "Expansion Enclosure" settings are for use with the 17A00 expansion boards, or the wireless receivers. These can be mounted away from the main board and communicate via the data bus. The expansion enclosures use their own transformer and backup battery, which is why you see status readings for those. Since you don't actually have an expansion enclosure, the system reports that it can't see it and thinks it's offline.

The 10A06 doesn't show up or have status reported under the Expansion Enclosures tab. You just need to set the number of expansion enclosures to zero, but the leave the "Hardwire Expander" as module 1.

I am currently considering "system" number 2 (house number 2) all in one solution and am on the fence regarding an Omni Pro or Elk. I have one small media panel in the laundry room which already has:

Panel number 1 already has: (think its a 28" Leviton panel)
1 - cat 5 wiring for network and telephone
2 - speaker wiring to each room in the home (already connected to main family room stereo)
3 - RG6 cabling to each room in the home.
4 - combo AP/Switch plus FIOS router inside of it.

Nothing more can fit inside of panel number one. Ideally should have gone with a 42" panel and put everything in it.

Panel number 2 would have

1 - alarm, thermostat light control ideally with ethernet/serial connectivity.
2 - small size (the 28" panel already is using up a lot of space inside of the laundry room closet) in that it will need to be mounted above media panel in same said laundry room.

This because I had the home built prewired for alarm and all wires home runned to same location.

That would probably be a very easy decision for me. What do you have in House 1? I would probably use the same one to simply leverage knowledge and ability to use/move parts around.

Edit: Upon reading it closer it looks like there is nothing in Panel 1 :) Well, in that case it's a more difficult answer that would be better answered by all the other Elk vs HAI threads.

Given that you already have an OmniPro II in house number one, I'd stick with the Omni for familiarity and the ability to share or swap expansion and accessories.

House 1
Its more of small wall now but
Panel 1 - 42" Leviton - top to bottom - Cover will still fit on top with what I have inside of it.
1-Wire "stuff" - using Leviton mini patch panels there with a Temp08, Temp05 and two 9097's
Power strip
Network switch - 24 port with a W2C box on top of the switch plus 3 POE injectors
Leviton Patch panel for 24 port switch and telephone.
So basically in Panel 1 its just networking "stuff"

External to Panel 1 is audio, video , voip, etc

Panel 2 is just the HAI Omni Pro II - I have this panel now for about 4 years or so.

House-2 - lack of space - much smaller footprint - all house low voltage brought to the back of the laundry room closet. In front of the existing panel today is wire shelving for storage. Pre-wired doors, windows, IR and for keypad consoles. Much more than I will need....maybe because I am looking to do more in less space (more HA too)

BTW - getting older so move slower - so pre-wiring was good and completed when house was being built - I still think of what I missed in the pre wiring though

If you can add another 28" enclosure above or below the existing one that should give you enough room for the Omni and its accessories.
