Online Photo Gallery

I'm beginning a project to archive my family's photographs.

I would rather not upload them all to a photo sharing service such as Kodak/etc. and would like to upload them to a dedicated server - I would also like to have it set up to easily allow family members to upload their photos also. It would be a repository for the family to save their photographs and make them accessible to all of us.

I currently have an online server with a significant amount of bandwidth as well as storage. Does anyone know of any ASP programs that I could install on the server to facilitate this? I would then simply set up a Family Album URL for everyone to use. Tagging photos, and having the ability to provide descriptions of photos will be key. Ultimately, I would have a Family Tree website.

For example, I have a large collection of old photographs of relatives my parents would only know. I want to be able to upload them myself and then let my parents browse the photos and easily add descriptions and tag photos (i.e Aunt May, Uncle Fred, etc.).

Any thoughts?

If you are using a hosting provider they should have some you can load. I use coppermine...

This is on my list too. So far I am looking at selfhosting some gallery software. I think I will go with the amahi server (amahi.org). They have a few galleries. Or I may go with Tonido (tonido.com). I will have to set them up and see what is easier for the folks to use.
