No. Siren is what needs to be selected to drive a speaker as a siren. Voltage simply provides "voltage" to a siren with its own siren driver. See page 36 of the install manual.jpmargis said:
If you have a speaker connected to Output 2, you need to select voltage. Selecting siren will likely fry a small speaker.
Any DC voltage is not good for a speaker. It will heat the speaker coils and eventually open the coils at which point it will not function.jpmargis said:A little bit of DC votage will no "fry the speaker".
this is correct. You my want to edit your message above to reflect this in case somebody searches and follows the advice in your message five messages above.jpmargis said:Let's try this. From a keypad, G26 is set to "No" for speakers; G26 is set to "Yes" for a self-contained siren or bell. If you select "Yes" and have a speaker connected, there will be a problem.
In RP2, check "Siren output" for speakers or check "Voltage out" for a self-contained siren or bell.
You are incorrect.Mp333 said:Any DC voltage is not good for a speaker. It will heat the speaker coils and eventually open the coils at which point it will not function.
