Premise Posts

Is there a way for the Premise posts to be migrated from their old site to the cocoontech new home, without causing a "New post" every time? I assume there is tons of content that is being moved over, and it might be very distracting to follow the other "new posts" of non Premise info.

I has anticipated the "flooding" of Active Topics and received permission from Dan before posting the transferred messages. I posted about two dozen messages and I estimate there will be a total of 125. Rather than dump them in all at once, and effectively flush away all other Active Topics, I figure that two dozen or so at a time will be less disruptive.

If anyone knows of a method of "stealth posting", I'm open to that.

I don't know if "stealth" posting is possible.

But if it only takes a couple of days to transfer posts to their new home, its not that inconvenient.

I always read the forum using the "view new posts" search, so I was quite surprised this morning to see the size of the list. I thought CocoonTech was having a super busy day. ;)

Actually, I think it's less distracting if you do "flood" in one swoop, instead of across multiple days. If it's only 125 posts (which is teenie and much less than I had thought would be coming thru), then no diff either way.

125 posts...that's not All of the posts? That's just "juicy ones?"?

...

I just finished extracting the threads up to mid-January of this year and will have 30 to post. There's probably another 20 to extract and post after that and then it will be finished. Much less than my over-estimation of 125.

I omitted to include all of the lonely pleas for help that never received a reply ...

You can manually roll back the post date in the database but it's probably not worth the trouble.

It sucks yahoo won't let you dump a CSV or something for all your content, that would make this much easier. With some time you could totally duplicate it in IPB/IPS.

Fellow Cocooners,

I've completed the transfer of the major topics from the Premise SYS Community (Yahoo Group) to the new Premise Systems Home Control forum. All that remains is to post about ten files in the forum's Downloads section. Active Topics will no longer be overwhelmed with Premise content and will return to its normally-scheduled programming. :)

Thank you for your patience and I invite you to explore Premise and participate in the new forum.

Cheers,
Taras

That is pretty cool that you could save that knowledge-base, i'm sure it'll help prime the pump for the new folks. Plus us lurkers who like to look at the threads and pretend we have any idea what a base class is :-)

Personally, I think 123 is just doing all this to secretly boost his post count. *snicker* We all know that's the true measure of cocoonedness.... :)
