Quick question regarding this forum

I registered and introduced myself a couple weeks ago, and I am trying to figure out if this is an official or unofficial forum for HAI / OmniTouch. There seems to be very little discussion of the Leviton / Bitwise platform. Is this site mainly dedicated to the OT equipment only?

Thanks for any clarification.

Discussions are only limited to the number of participants that want to discuss something.  Which is to say, no limits.

I don't have any Bitwise gear, so I won't have any specific advice for it.

Welcome to the Cocoontech forum.

Just ask away in the subsections.  Here have an OmniPro 2. I have stuff connected to it but not a Bitwise controller.

I am also utilize Homeseer 3 with a testing beta Omni Plugin.

Most of what I have learned about my OmniPro 2 controller has been from fellow Cocoontech members right here.

Much of the automation here in my home is directly proportional to the WAF (wife acceptance factor).

IE: The Amazon Echo mysteriously originally appeared on the Kitchen counter like magic one day a few months back.

When asked about it I used Bill's praise and promotion about the Amazon as my reasoning and justification for it in purchasing it.

It is easier that way on the WAF.

Cocoontech is not an official support forum for HAI.  There are at times manufacturer reps that will chime in on things from HAI, Simply Automated, etc., but it is not the primary support area for any of the companies.  This is a home automation enthusiasts forum for like minded individuals to discuss and help each other.

Hey!  Don't drag me into your spousal shenanigans!

Our second one magically appeared upstairs behind TV.  It was only when she shouted 'Alexa, what time is it' that the one closer answered it.

Thanks for the replies, everybody. My personal system is Bitwise Controls (BC4 processors, iPad / iPhone, and I just added an OmniTouch 7 which had the HAI firmware, so I changed it over to work Bitwise right in Project Editor). I do all my own programming and I supply graphics / UIs (templates) for over a dozen home automation manufacturers, so I know how to program basic systems on all of them. I just happen to be most familiar with Bitwise, RTI and AMX.

I was going to familiarize myself with the HAI OmniTouch software a while back, but I figured it was going to be replaced with Project Editor sooner or later, so I never really got into it fully. Bitwise does not have a dedicated forum like they did before the acquisition, which is kind of strange.

Welcome.

What automation are you doing in your home today?

Touchscreen designs are still very much of a niche today and I envy you.

My wife will not touch my automation touch screens for fear that she will break the house.

We only use touch screens as our controllers. Everyone has a smart phone and is used to all touch screen UIs for apps etc... nobody here thinks twice about having hard button remotes (like our old MX-650 and 850s). Of course, with me being the graphics guy, I can pretty much do whatever I like, which is nice.

Are the touchscreens (consoles) connected to hardware controllers via a network or serial or USB connection and do they run automation software and act as consoles for the automation?

Goofing around a bit here have tested running automation software plus touchscreen console on a small capacitance tabletop.  It works OK but is a bit underpowered.

Newer with a quad core Baytrail runs both OS, Automation and touchscreen way better.

Every touch screen except the OmniTouch 7 is an iOS device running the Bitwise app. We use all iPad Minis and our iPhones. I did upload UIs to our iPod Touches, but they don't get used nearly as much. The OT7 is going in our kitchen as it is the first room you enter from the garage or side door.

The nicest part about Bitwise is no license fees per device. Completely unlimited. I have a few extra BC4s, so the system will be expanding shortly.
