RGB+W Light Strips

I've seen talk of the RGB LED strips, and I have some myself, but i'm noticing the RGBW becoming available, including some nice controllers specifically the US Bound Fibaro Controller...
 
I'm wondering if one can simply run another White strip in Parallel (keeping voltage/wattage in mind) and connect to same output on the controller for the white and v+ output and produce the same effects of a RGBW strip.
 
Any thoughts?  The downside obviously being 2 strips and likely extra home runs for power to avoid voltage drop, but this would be an excellent retrofit solution if possible.

I don't see why not. If the common is the V+ and the white output is the negative you are simply taking the negative control line and running it thought a different strip.
