RUC-01 Controller by Web Mountain?

I am looking into a UPB/Zwave controller for HA and saw several Cocooners with RUC-O1 listed in their Tech/Hardware. In looking up the Web Mountain RUC-01, it seems like a pretty nice piece of equipment, however there isn't much information out there so I was hoping to get a few questions answered by those that are using them.
  • I know the RUC-01 needs the SPIM-01 controller to control UPB. Are other controllers needed for Zwave or is that built into the RUC-01?
  • Can I use the RUC-01 with HA software such as Elve?
  • I see mention about the timer and ability to refresh light status as some positives to its use but I really don't see what else is special about this controller. Any additional positives or examples of using the RUC-01 would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

You don't need to hook up a serial
PIM to program with UpStart. You run a virtual serial port on the PC and it connects to the RUC

You can port forward the IP address for remote changes.

It has a random time generator not contained in HAI. This combined with the vacation mode in the timer can create a more realistic lived in look. I use it for my vacation lighting scheme so I don't have to program all of that into the HAI.

It can send e-mails and text messages (via e-mail clients).

I use mine to listen for UPB links and then send out follow on commands to take the processing load and save programming lines on the HAI. You can add delays to this.

It can send commands to multi channel devices like the SA US22-40 that can't be sent by the HAI.
Ihave my porch lights and garage coach lights on one, so I use it to individually control the channels like blinking just the coach lights, or dimming/raising the porch lights.

It can send other protocols besides UPB. You do need separate interfaces for the other protocols.

I just use a standard SA PIM with mine not the Western PIM. I think an HAI PIM would work with the correct cable.
