securing wires and gang boxes question

I am also in the Chicago area and all houses are wired like this. I allways thought this was normaly everywhere up too 12 years ago. ILL is very strong on the electrical code,

As upstatemike said you are fine with your location and I see no issues. The only thing I would do is make your keypad location the same hieght as your thermostats so the are easier to use with out hunching over.

If your AC is in conduit there are NO restrictions about proximity to low voltage. You can tie wrap your low voltage wires to the conduit if you want!

I'd be talking to your electrical inspector before I attached anything to the conduit.

First, I want to say that all AC wiring should be in conduit (or BX) in my opinion. That is what I would do if I was building a new house.

Second, If your AC is in conduit there are NO restrictions about proximity to low voltage. You can tie wrap your low voltage wires to the conduit if you want!

Third, I can't view your picture (I just have a red x where the thumbnail should be). It is probably a setting in my browser but I'm not sure where to look. Anybody have an idea what it could be?
Let's try this, I'm going to attach it.

I can se that one OK. Looks great! Why aren't all homes wired this way?

You can put any low voltage devices as close to the switch boxes as you want. No AC hum is going to leak out of that installation!
