Found this gadget earlier while browsing amazon:

It looks like it can automatically turn off equipment based on the status of 1 device. I.e. turn your printer off when your computer turns off. It must used the same system the CR magnetics current sensors use I guess. Most people leave their system on, but this might be good for the kids computer & accessories, or maybe in a home theater environment.
 
i guess it would work well for me if i ever turned off my computer.

I think it would work well for my A/V stuff though.
 
I have one on my arcade I built and it works great. You turn on the computer and it powers up the monitor, lights, sound system, etc.
