Smokes on an Elk panel - sounder or no sounder?

Hi, I will be purchasing smoke detectors in the near future and wanted to get people's opinions on sounders or no sounders. I will run the smokes through my Elk, so I thought I could rely on the Panel to sound a fire alarm. Any thoughts on getting smokes with sounders vs letting the panel handle the notification?

With my Elk, I don't have speakers in every room. Thus, I'd prefer a smoke with a sounder, to have one in each room.
 
I've yet to really investigate smokes, but I'd certainly consider Elk's new 2-way smoke:

For life safety purposes, you should have a sounder in each room in addition to tandem ring.
 
For notification purposes, a general speaker in vicinity should be enough.
 
For code compliancy, sounders are mandatory, as is tandem ring.
