Snaplink Updates

ano,

I did not say a serial port had to be set to ZigBee, I said a serial port has to be set to "Access Control"...

Setting a serial port to ZigBee or Z-Wave does not imply that you have a ZigBee or Z-Wave lock... In the future I plan to modify Snap-Link to search through the individual device to see if any are ZigBee or Z-Wave locks, but for now it just looks at the serial ports.

Sorry for the confusion. I hope this helps.

OOPS, looks like we were typing at the same time...

Glad you got it working, and I will look at the log routines next chance I get.

O.K. Got it to work by taking advantage of another bug, the bug where PC Access claims you have 5 serial ports when your board physically only has 3.  So I configured one of these imaginary serial ports as access control, and it worked.

Thanks, I would have never figured that one out myself.

Glad that you got Access Control working.

FYI: The serial port thing is not a bug, it is a backwards compatibility issue. When we were developing the new boards our dealers and partners overwhelmingly decided that they did not want a new model number as it would break 3rd party apps. So both controllers report the same model number and therefore from an external software perspective you can't tell them apart. This is good because 3rd part apps can't tell either and work just fine with the new boards. We still support the older boards 100% by adding all new features to the older boards as well. So you are right PC Access shows serial ports that may not exist. It was a small compromise but if you are a dealer setting up a system you should know how many serial ports you actually have on the board?

When controlling my door lock from the Snaplink interface, the option to "Unlock for 5 Seconds" does not work properly.  It unlocks, but it stays unlocked.

The unlock for a duration is not supported by many (most) ZigBee and Z-Wave locks. We have no control over that. I don't know what kind of lock you have, dead bolt or lever, but at least for dead bolts that would not be a good feature. You open the door, then the dead bolt locks/extends before you shut the door... repair the door jamb...

I didn't plan on using that feature, but thought it was a bug since it didn't work and wanted to let you know.

I was going to mention that also.  So its not supported, and even if it did work, it would be kind of a silly function.  So why does SnapLink still have that button?
