Support for Insteon PLM

I am new to Premise... After several attempts to install the software (always hangs between 60-80%), it finally appears to be intact. I can run the builder and the services appear to be running. I have an Insteon setup that runs from Smarthome's PowerLinc Modem (PLM). It is similar to the PLC except does not require the SDM application. In the forums and download areas I see a application for the PLC (minibroker?). Is there any one using the PLM that can share with me?

When John (in Va) developed the Insteon Module, the PLM wasn't around. John's version works reliably and troublefree. I don't know whether John plans to update it or not...does the PLM work with existing devices or are the existing ones becoming obsolete (wouldn't be surprised - but that is the cynical Chuck speaking)

To my knowledge, John_in_VA's Insteon driver operates exclusively with the PLC(communication occurs via the SDM app). I don't know of a Premise Insteon driver that operates with the PLM.

If support for the Insteon PLM is critical to your Home Automation plans, may I suggest you try the J9 Automation Engine. J9AE is in beta and is currently free.

You are all correct!!!! The current module only supports the PLC via Smart Home's SDM. Incidentally, the SDM doesn't run on 64-bit windows so the current module is pretty much a dead-end piece of software unless Microsoft or Smarthome can do something about it.

My understanding was that the PLM was the intended replacement for the PLC - specifically to eliminate the dependency on the SDM.

As for devices, the two are completely compatible. I was able to use HomeSeer to restore the backup PLC link tables to my new PLM.

The PLM and PLC are 100% different from each other.
Completely different communications protocol and features. Like a PLM has no Real Time Clock that the PLC has.
If the software can support both. Then maybe it can restore data to a PLM from what was in a PLC.

I should have been more clear... by devices, I am referring to all the SwitchLinc, KeypadLinc, ControlLinc and RelayLinc devices that were in use with the PLC. Upon moving to the PLM, the linktables were all adjusted and transferred to the PLM's address and operated the same as they did with the PLC.
