Does anyone have experience with Carrier Infinity or Bryant Evolution thermostats. I am wondering if these would be accessible and programmable without paying a monthly fee to Carrier. Not sure of the technology they are using. They have both ethernet connected, rs232, and wireless modules I believe.

Thanks.

Also are there alternatives that work with variable speed, multizone, gas furnaces with a separate a/c unit.

I can't say for the units you asked about but I can tell you that for my Lennox multi-zone system, the zone controller uses simple single stage 'stats. The variable speed blower, multi-stage heating/cooling, etc are all handled by the zone controller.

The Porliphix brand of stats work with these requirements. I use one of these stats with HomeSeer and it work well with the HomeSeer Proliphix plugin.
