Touch screen ideas needed

What kind of touch screens are being used these days? I have finally perfected my back end and need a good front end to display it all. Been messing around with Elve but I don't like how you can't fast scroll through lists like you can with, for example, an iPod music list. Anyways I got ethernet and power to any wall that can handle it. :)
Ps. Don't say that advent touch screen pos. Been there done that.

I've been kinda eyeing mp3car.com - since they have some modules designed to be integrated. Or honestly I'm considering the iPad mounts too.

Many HomeSeer users are using the older iPads and iPods in combination with HSTouch. The older iPads are prices well right now and combine that with one of the many wall mounts and you have a killer combination.
Here's a screen shot of HSTouch on an iPod. There are other examples on the HomeSeer message board if you are interested.

I have an in-wall Atom based PC, but purchased this before the iPad was released. If I would have to decide again, I would definitely go the iPad route, a lot less maintenance, and much quicker/cheaper. With over 150+ iPad mounts, it shouldn't be hard to find a good mounting solution (even the more expensive mounts would still be cheaper than running a PC+touch screen combo).

Today in the Wintel world I also use Atom based TS's. Earlier up on thread I see the mention of carpc's. I have two set up in two vehicles and initial went to the Via Epia world for the carpc's - attempted the same for the home TS's a few years ago. The ViaPCs did ok for the carpcs with much simpler graphics and limited interaction but now really well for the home TS's with a more graphical interface.

My goal for the home TS's has always been to be able to provide a simple wired (maybe POE) touchpad type interface. Simple, easy to manage via a wired connection. Generally the larger IPad has attracted the attention of a simple interface but at a cost. With the introduction of gen 2 the cost is less. Concurrently now though both in the CE world and the Android world there is competition; initially developed for mobile applications folks are using the same interface for home HA. I think the playing field of the thin for home touchscreen is becoming a reality for the DIY person.

In reality pricewise you could always get a CE based very light touchscreen for say $400 plus; same as an IPad. Most folks though didn't want to spend this much on multiple touchscreen interfaces. Personally I never used my multiple PDA style phones for any HA in the home and always looked for function rather than aesthetics when using my phone on the wireless network. In the last couple of years my PDA phones have been set up to automatically forward any calls to nearest available land line or BT speaker in the automobiles.

I'm now seeing 1Ghz CPU's now in thin larger tablets that run Android (developed for the mobile phone) and CE at a cost roughly to half of what has been available (IE IPad) which will definitely be utilized by the DIY HA person.

So the $100 almost paperthin interactive touchscreen that you can hang anywhere is almost here; why spend $300-$400 on one when you can buy 4 instead. In the commercial world of HA; no matter what the spend most folks preferred a light IPAD simple like interface; simple and intuitive.

Can't beat the price of the ipad right now. Plus, it will fit in the place of sheetrock so you can put it anywhere and not worry about what's in the walls.
