Motorola Premise

Can't figure this out. Thought this should be simple enough. Downloaded the drivers and tried to install one at a time with no success by placing the files in different folders then restarting and trying to add standard and custom devices. Can't see anything related to UPB at all. What am I missing?

The Zwave stuff was in an xdo format, and I had no issue here. Why isn't the UPB?

Frustrated again.

Thanks for any assistance!

Place the files in the \bin\devices folder. You will need the basic UPB.dll file AND the individual brand files, like upbSA.dll and upbPCS.dll. Restart the Premise service.

You should see the 3 items in your builder under devices. Right click the plain upb device and add an interface (serial or USB, etc.).

Then right click the upbSerialInterface, or upbUSBInterface and add the PIM. It may say unknown, but should still work.

Go back to the upbSerialInterface (or USB) and highlight it. In the properties pane on the right, you should see the important settings. Most important is the COM port. Set that for the port the pim is connected to if it is serial. Then you may need to click on the "Force Network Enumeration" to get it to find all of the devices.

I found it easier to program everything using UPStart first, then just let Premise find it all.

Remember, these drivers are quite old and do not know about a lot of recent switches and modules. I was able to modify them (read hack) directly to see a few additional switch as though they were different models and they work. But if it can't identify some devices, the driver may not be able to address them.
