UPB PIM - Upstart and Omni Pro II

Quick question about the UPB™ Powerline Interface Module (PIM 36A00-1):

It sounds like most people use a combination of the Dealer PCA software and Upstart to configure their UPB light switches.

Right now I have the PIM connected to my Omni Pro II serial port #3. If I want to configure switches using the Upstart Program, do I need to unplug the PIM from the Omni Pro II and bring it over to my computer and plug it directly into the computer using the UPB™ PIM to computer cable (36A05-2)? Then when I am finished configuring, unplug it from the computer and plug it back into the Omni Pro II?

Yes, you'll need to switch it back and forth. Honestly, you should probably have two PIM's. They are great troubleshooting devices and I like to be able to leave one connected to the HAI at all times and also use one on a PC so that I can program, test, analyze signals, etc.

I have three UPB Pims.

One is connected to the HAI OPII (HAI Serial), Homeseer (SA Serial) server and one (SA USB) is a floater for my laptop/Upstart.

I tried doing a remote USB to NIC with the SA UPB device via Digi's USB Anywhere. It sees the device but doesn't work. I never tried it though on my Lantronics USB to Network Device. The folks at SA mentioned something about a USB driver update such that it would work with the Digi USB Anywhere box. None the less I use the UPB floater connected to the laptop to check signal strengths around the house.

Thanks for the info guys. I just ordered a 36A05-2 so I can hook the PIM to my computer. No matter what I've tried I am unable to get the PIM to see or configure my only HAI UPB light switch. I am hoping that using the Upstart software I can try and troubleshoot it more.
