I have approximately 25 Simply Automated switches in my setup, and need to add about 25 more. Many of these are the originals that did not support responding to a link sent from themselves. Most of them are the ones that you had to try a million faceplates on to get one to work or file the legs on the back. I have some newer ones and the quality is better. I contemplated switching to Insteon, but was advised not to.
If I stay with UPB, I need to use Simply Automated since this is a retrofit installation and I need controllers that also act as a switch. I really like the Pul$ework$ switches, but they cost a lot and do not have an integrated controller/switch. Same with HAI.
So, if I stay with UPB, here are some questions...
1) Can the new Simply Automated devices send links to themselves on all links or just a set of links. I had some intermediate ones that made reference to only the higher numbered links, but the latest switches do not have that reference. The originals could not link to themselves.
2) Does Simply Automated plan to go to a Gen II implementation?
3) For the Phase Repeater, it looks like they recommend that it be installed on two breakers that do not have any load on them. The plug in module obviously runs in parallel with a load, so why can the hard wired version not? I have a junction box near the breaker panel that has two phases running through it. I would love to be able to just drop the repeater in this box.
4) Will Simply Automated do anything for those of us that were early implementers and have finicky switches that are out of warranty but do not work with face plates well?
