UPB

...and buzzing from one of the switches.
Ron,

While what you were experiencing is probably all related to the settings as discussed, the UPB switches do make a buzzing sound when transmitting. This has been discussed before (but oddly not much lately). The bottom line is if you put your ear pretty close to the switch you can hear the buzz, but at normal distances, just operating normally, 99% of the time you will not hear anything, unless maybe your house is deep cave quiet with reflective surfaces where you could hear a pin drop. (Yea, I'll never forget that experience in Mammoth Cave in KY where they went to a landing, told everyone to hold their breath for 20 seconds, turned off the lights and dropped a pin that you heard very clearly and distinctly).
Now that I have it switched to non dimmable.... I am hearing the buzzing sometimes but it appears to be coming from the screwin flourescents. I can live with it though as other than that they are working perfectly now.

I'm having some difficulty configuring a UFD and a SW-1.... I am trying to use the SW-1 to send the command to the UFD with no luck. On the SW-1, I am only hooking up the black, nuetral and ground and capping the others. On the UFD I am only hooking up the Black, white and brown. I can turn on the UFD from the Upstart software but not turn it off and I can't control it either way with the SW-1. Any suggestions here?
tia,
Ron

Ron, can you send a link for the SW-1? I did a search at Automated Outlet and can't find it there. I can't find it anywhere. Who makes it, is it a switch or a slave? What are you controlling with the UFD? Might you have the UFD snap on and dim off over 60 minutes? Just a thought.

I have it setup as dimming not enabled.... the SW-1 is a switch and it supports multi rocker and is suppossed to be able to send a command to a UPB UFD.

Here it is... http://webmtn.com/products/productDetails.php?id=18 I was told that they are the same as the SimplyAutomated.... Should I try a US2/40?

I put the SA US2-40 in and I reinstalled the UFD... I now can turn on and off the UFD from UPStart... still working on getting the us2-40 to turn it on and off though.

Other than reinstalling, what did you do to get Upstart to turn off the UFD? Also, the switch is an SW-111 not SW-1. My Upstart doesn't even have a Web Mountain SW-111 but it does have a Web Mountain US2-40. Be careful of the link that the transmit defaults to on the US2-40. When I put in a test switch it defaulted to Link 241 You will need to create a link for the UFD then set the US2-40 to activate (transmit) that link.

I deleted the old devices and I installed the US2-40 and the UFD.. followed through the instructions again, selectedmy link for the switch and it started working (I did go in and test the link in grapghical mode too first). Strange thing is the switch won't light blue when it is off even though it is selected in the settings... but when it goes into program mode it will flash green. I tried setting the air gap and the blue would come on but as soon as the air gap is set to where the switch works the led will not turn on... defective?

Since this is your first install I would tend toward cockpit error more than defective switches. I would just keep playing and you'll probably discover a programming error.

I thought the only spot for turning on the LED was in the UPB UPStart Software where it allows you to pick the colors..

Make sure you reprogram the switch each time you make a change in UPStart. You can't just make the change in UPStart and save the file, you need to 'send' it to the switch. Also, the air gap has nothing to do with the working of the switch. The air gap is simply like a safety 'circuit breaker' that completely turns off the switch. It is intended for use when changing bulbs, etc so you can effectively totally kill power to the light regardless if someone turns the switch on or not. If you turn the air gap on the switch should be completely dead. When you turn it back off, the switch should work as normal/programmed.

I'm only currently using one button of the 8.... Does this look correct?

I'm having trouble reading your .jpg. Are you sure that button number 1 is controlling the load and is configured correctly? The led will track the load and you may have it configured to another button or no button at all. Just a thought.
