Upgrading OPII

In the process this morning of updating OPII - might as well detail it. One thing that I did a while ago relating to my server section / media wall is to add 3 very bright CCFL lamps above my panels providing very good light.

- Prior to endeavor let new board run about 18 hours with BU battery, new PS and one console.
- Pre programmed new board with current board configuration.
- 0845 - shut down HS server (because of its connectivity to OPII)
- removed 4 bottom terminal strips from new OPII, kind of tight and moving very slowly. Basically used a small "fat" screwdriver under top part of terminal strip to loosen terminal strip right center and left. Then just pulled the terminal strip gently up perpendicular to main board.
- disconnected battery and PS to legacy OPII
- numbered and removed serial / network connections on top of board
- removed expansion board top and bottom screws and unplugged ribbon cable from main OPII board. Letting this board hang loose.
- I had a few plastic tie wraps holding wires in place and so removed them.
- removed top three screws and spacers
- removed bottom three screws
- unscrewed ground wire from terminal strip (12 guage solid wire to ground - very stiff)
- removed 4 bottom terminal strips very slowly. Easy but you need to move very slowly.
- finally removed center 3 screws. Board loose. I was able to slid legacy OPII board over and out of case. A bit difficult.
- put new OPII board into place.
- 0915 - short break to write on forum
- Noticed one "thing" on legacy OPII board. One cap near PS is every so slightly bulging on top. Just barely but noticible.
- Noticed second "thing" on the legacy OPII board. One clips for one terminal strip was broken. I don't recall noticing this before but never removed terminal strip before.
- 1015 - took a break but just completed screwing new OPII board into place, connecting serial/network links, plugging in terminal strips, reconnecting ground and tie wrapping wires. Will it work now when I plug the PS back in?
- Even though have plenty of light checking wiring with flashlight just to be on the safe side.
- Exterior PIR's / Cams have their own PS. I am wondering though what the draw is with existing connections and whether there is a way to do some sort of diagnostics relating to power draw from 40A 24VAC PS?
- I also noticed two jumpers labeled JP10 and JP15. I have no idea what these are for and have left them alone as jumped previously. (default?)
- Another thing I noticed is the the "legacy" 24VAC 40 VA PS has only two AC terminals where as the "new" one has three.
- Powered up newer OPII panel at 1030. All looks well. Checked with PCAccess and synced time.
- Changing IP to "legacy" OPII IP via console then.
- All is well at 1133 this morning. All board functions appear fine at this time. Checking with PCAccess all appears fine also.

I guess it was more apprehension relating to what I was doing than the work itself. Next on OPII is to add another expansion card, wireless reciever and HAI touch screen. Mostly concerned with WAF relating to touch screen.
