What Do You Think of Doorbot?

Would you buy it? If so, why not? What ways do you think it can be improved (design wise, price wise, etc.)

That is pretty cool. but i would prefer a wired model that works over cat-5 so you don't need to deal with battery. This is kind of what I have been looking for. An video intercom that has portability. The only potential problem would be with internet lag or downtime. Would be nice to have a unit inside the house, or that would work with internal network/wifi.

I agree. I am not going to spend money on Vapor(hard)ware.

As for the camera shot, if will be fine. Every video door phone can see the whole person when they are installed to manufacturers specs and are designed properly.

Not a fan of this myself either, that said, I am looking for a high-res low-light and very compact doorcam solution. Have any of you guys found alternatives?

Full HD videocameras are a throw-away on new phones, but IP security cameras are still expensive. When that changes we should have a plethora of options.

Given that smartphones are use by almost half of all cell phone users, I think this will be a pretty popular product. The only think I wonder about is whether wired Internet/WiFi will go the way of analog landlines. People are rapidly dumping those for cell phones. Will they eventually dump wired Internet at home too and just use their LTE data plans for all wireless Internet? Then what would that Doorbot use when you leave home?
