What's The Best Hardware Available

@upstatemike:

Thanks for the tip.... I'm doing just that :lol:

It appears that the Elk system can also bridge between X10 and UPB.

I also hear you regarding X10 wireless and up until recently I had that technology lumped into the "hobbiest only" catagory due to line collisions caused by sensor trips. However, the W800RF32 interface has added a whole new level of reliability to this approach. I'm currently running a 10 sensor hawkeye setup at home with excellent results thanks to this device. Because of this, I am now prepared to offer some wireless triggered macros to my automation offerings. The chief detractor is the fact that motion sensors themselves are too conspicuous or gaudy to be accepted in the major living spaces of upper-tier housing followed closely by the fact that they are battery operated. Nevertheless, there are several wireless based macros featuring inconspicuous sensor placement that I could pull from my home that would play well in a customer environment. I'm sure we all can think of several; the closet macro that has been mentioned in this forum is one good example. Add to this the fact that X10 wireless makes the wireless X10 keypad a viable scene control device and I believe this capability can be very well received by the customer base.

I plan on tier pricing this so that if the wireless option is chosen then additional macro based features would be selectable. Additionally, wireless keypad activation of any macro or scene would now be an option. Add 3VDC in-wall wiring to the sensors themselves and I believe you can build a professional, high reliability wireless solution into an overall automation offering. You'll just have to remove that gigantic "X10 Professional" or "ActiveHome" banner from the sensors first....
