Premise Windows 7 WMA Lossless Encoding and Premise

First, does anyone here use WMA Lossless encoding for audio?

I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 7. Overall I am happy with it. There are a few gotchas. But I didn't expect them to radically change WMA encoding. Seems that anything I have encoded on this PC will not play in Premise.

Is it just me?

Ugh.

It just gets curiouser and curiouser...

It seems to go south when I edit the Tags. The raw files play just fine. I change the filename and edit the tags and poof. They don't play. Hmmm.

This all started because I decided to take a bunch of old vinyl and convert it. VinylStudio works QUITE well by the way.

The search continues...

So, in case anyone needs to know this. It seems that Tag & Rename destroys WMA files when editing tags in mass. Once I re-converted the files, I manually edited the tags using Windows Vista built in tagging feature and it works fine now.

Of course, now I find that iTunes does NOT support WMA, so 90% of my library won't import unless I convert it. But then of course, Premise won't read AAC. I could convert to MP3, but then I loose lossless.

Argh.

Perhaps if I had had my second cup of coffee and searched, I would have found this thread which explains just how to get Premise to play M4A files :)

Now I guess I need to convert my entire collection. Again. Damn iPhone :)
